A NEW chapter in the distinguished history of a Georgian country house hotel near Ross-on-Wye is about to begin.
Malcolm and Liz Dobson have become the new owners of Pencraig Court after buying the hotel for an undisclosed sum from an asking price of £540,000 for the freehold.
Jonathan Hill, associate director of Christie & Co's Bristol office, which handled the sale, said: "Liz was seeking a change of lifestyle and before embarking on the purchase of the hotel did an HNC in hotel management at Highbury College in Portsmouth.''
The Dobsons are being supported in the business by colleagues Peter and Shirley Jellis.
They will replace retiring owners Mike Clifford, Sue Clifford and Jan Bull, who during their time at Pencraig carried out a complete refurbishment, helping the hotel to receive a three-star rating and a Silver Award from the English Tourism Council.
Pencraig Court was built around 1780, although its foundations are much older.
