Forest of Dean District Council looks set to give its backing to plans for a replacement sewage treatment works at Hill Top Lane.

The matter will be discussed at a meeting of the council's development control and licensing committee on Tuesday.

The recommendation from officers is that no objection should be raised, subject to a full landscaping scheme being submitted and the requirements of the divisional environmental health officer being taken into account.

The proposal concerns a 0.11-hectare site lying to the south of Hill Top Lane.

The existing treatment plant is to be demolished and replaced with an underground chamber and reed bed filtration system.

There would be a new access and turning area for service vehicles together with fencing and landscaping round the site.

The current plant is considered to be at the end of its useful life. A final decision on planning permission will be made by Gloucestershire County Council.
