A veteran member of the Newent church community will be presented with Maundy Money by the Bishop of Tewkesbury, the Rt Rev John Went.
The Rector of Newent, the Rev Robert Simpson nominated Wilson Bywater for the great honour. Mr Bywater has been an active member of the church community, particularly the Meth-odist church, since the late 1930s, alongside his wife Doris.
Mr Bywater should have rec-eived Maundy Money at Glouces-ter Cathedral from the Queen, alongside 153 other pensioners.
But personal circumstances meant Mr Bywater was unable to attend the April presentation.
Instead, arrangements were made to present the pensioner with the bag of Maundy Money at this Sunday's annual confirmation service at Christ Church, Gorsley on Sunday at 6.30pm.
