Hereford United's leading-scorer Steve Guinan says that he has more to offer the Edgar Street outfit, writes Ian Morgan.

The former Shrewsbury and Nottingham Forest striker has spoken briefly to Hereford manager Graham Turner and wants to be a part of the club's drive for success next season.

He said: "I would be more than happy to stay for next season because I have enjoyed my time here. The lads are great and so, too, are the coach and manager.

"If we don't make the play-offs this season, the club can go for it next season and, hopefully, I will still be a part of it."

The versatile Guinan was Hereford's two-goal hero in Saturday's 4-0 drubbing of Burton Albion - a result which kept alive faint promotion hopes.

Guinan played on the right side of midfield and said: "I thought I did reasonably well.

"I have played right midfield, centre-half and centre midfield before, but I am probably a better player going forward."

Guinan has been reasonably pleased with his contribution to United's promotion push this season.

"Fourteen goals is a decent record at this stage but I have also hit the woodwork four times and missed a few when I probably should have scored. I know that I have more to give to the club," he said.
