LUNCH TIME rock music, karaoke and leg waxing for the lads, all part of a fun day held at Weobley High School in aid of the Acorns Trust Children's Hospice Appeal.
Tom Jackson and Josh Mitchell braved the pain; imposed by a crowd of sadistic leg-waxers to become the greatest fundraisers of the day, raising £200 pounds between them. The boys hid their suffering well and agreed it was excellent entertainment.
Many other events proved to be a great hit with the pupils. A tug of war, golf and beat the goalie all took place outdoors, while inside several fundraising activities occupied students, to the sound of live rock and karaoke booming from the classrooms at lunchtime. Y7 had their hands full, laying out a trail of £180 in coppers.
The trust hopes to raise a total of £4 million to build the new children's hospice by 2004, on a site earmarked on the outskirts of Worcester. The whole school took part in a successful day that raised a total of £1,120 for the appeal.
