A BRAVE mum has spoken about the life and death of her baby boy at a charity meeting in Hereford.

Highlighting the importance of a new children's hospice for the three counties, Sadie Lewis told an Acorns meeting how her family had received invaluable help from the charity when her son Fraser died at its Sellyoak hospice three years ago.

Brother survived

Fraser, whose twin brother survived, had been poorly from birth. "It was the first time Sadie had spoken publicly, but for me, and I am sure everyone in the audience it was the most telling endorsement for the building of the hospice," said Terry Williams, president of Hereford Lions Club, who organised the meeting.

The event was arranged to raise awareness of the planned £4million hospice and a model was on show.

Acorns community fundraising co-ordinator, Fran Winterbourn, said: "Many of those attending committed to supporting the appeal, which was the key objective."

A total of £6,346 was presented on the night, including a cheque for £5,000 from the Lions Club, £420 from The After Eights, Hereford, £280 from Phil and Jackie Perry of Central Roofing and Building Services Ltd, £150 from Betty Powell of Lucksall, Fownhope and a donation from the IT office staff at Sun Valley.
