LITTER ALLEY -- I notice John Berry of Bush Bank Residents Association refers to Litterline, the council collection service, in the latest Pyoneer... Touch wood, we have avoided the worst excesses prevalent in other parts of the county, though black bags are quite bad enough. But while it seems acceptable to drop, without a thought, crisp packets and beer cans along our lanes, it should come as no surprise that the verges are considered ideal dumping ground for household refuse; unsocial though and costly, since the council has to pick up the tab. Perhaps primary schools could try to influence their charges while they are theoretically malleable.

DIARY DATES -- Sunday, June 29, Music for a Summer Evening at Canon Pyon church followed by cheese and wine at the Court Farm; July 4, Pyon Players Victorian Evening, 'A Night to Remember', a two act play followed by supper in the village hall; July 5, Birley Fete at Birley Court; July 6, Friends of Westhope, barbecue at Prospect Cottage; July 13, Tarrington Brass at the Great House; July 19, Canon Pyon Fete. After all that everyone will deserve a holiday.
