Ledbury vet Eden Tanner, treasurer of the St Mary's Clay Pigeon Association, has announced the outcome of a successful fundraising drive on behalf of St Mary's Hospice.
Mr Tanner, of the Argus Veterinary Surgery in New Street, said a competition shooting weekend at Sufton in May raised a total of £3,800.
The money was raised through sponsorship from local firms and from a good turn out of shooters over three days.
Mr Tanner said: "This, together with an additional donation from the association's reserve fund, enabled our chairman, Peter Davies, to hand over a cheque of £4,000.
"The association has been raising money for local hospital charities for nearly 50 years and it is hoped, with such tremendous local support, an equally successful event can be held next year."
