Hereford United striker John Grant has left Edgar Street.

Bulls' coach Richard O'Kelly confirmed the news after Saturday's 4-2 home defeat to Doncaster Rovers.

The forward, who lives in the Manchester area, has struggled to settle in the Hereford area and has been hampered by suspension and the failure to hit the net regularly.

"He did alright for us on the pitch but he found a problem with the travelling side," said O'Kelly. "It was probably better that he left the club and got somewhere closer to his home. It wasn't a one way decision."

Hereford manager Graham Turner will announce his retained list tomorrow but it is reported that club captain Ian Wright may not be included on it.

Turner displayed a ruthless streak last year when he got rid of all of his squad bar six in a bid to build a promotion challenging team.
