GRAHAM Turner insists Hereford United's season has been a successful one despite narrowly missing out on the play-offs.

The Bulls entertain Doncaster Rovers in the Nationwide Conference tomorrow (3pm) with nothing but pride to play for.

But Turner has declared himself pleased with the progress his young side have made.

"I think there has been more positives than negatives," he said.

"We've brought some young lads into the side and we've had some good performances, played some bright football and been far more entertaining.

"Up until two weeks ago we were still in with a shout and I think the play-offs have worked well.

"Overall there is a lot of room for optimism for next season and we would like to finish with a flourish against Doncaster who have made the play-offs.

"Overall it's been a good season and I would like to finish off on a high.

"We've got the player of the year awards on Saturday night where the players will get accolades from the fans and we want to go there and meet them on the back of a good display."

Meanwhile, Rovers' millionaire owner John Ryan is poised to make a late substitute appearance tomorrow and realise a boyhood dream of playing for the Yorkshire club at the of 52.

The businessman has ploughed more than £4million into Rovers and was registered as a player at the beginning of the season in a bid to make one appearance.

"John is nearly 53 and he would be the oldest player to make an appearance for a professional club," said Doncaster spokesman Steve Uttley.

Turner quipped that if anybody put £4million into cash-strapped Hereford they could play every week.

The Bulls are set to welcome back Matt Clarke who has recovered from a dead leg while Paul Parry, who has missed the last three games, is in with a chance of playing.

But defender Andy Tretton and Ian Wright, who has had 11 stitches in a head wound, are doubtful.

FORMCAST: Bulls to bag a point 1-1.
