WITH Roy Keane dragging the reputation of footballers through the mud its good to see Hereford United topping the Nationwide Conference's discipline league.

According to confguide.com the Bulls have picked up just eight points for yellow cards, well down on worst offenders Halifax and Scarborough who each have 29 points.

Tuesday's visitors Yeovil will include Gavin Williams whose departure to the Somerset was a big blow over the summer.

Despite his loss Bulls boss Graham Turner is upbeat about his new squad and was buoyed by their victory at Woking in front of the Sky TV camera.

The own goal that put Hereford ahead was just the rub of the green United were looking for said Turner. "We had a slice of luck with the first goal and it was probably deemed a turning point," he told strictlyconference.com. "But we have a fairly young side and results like that have begun to give them a bit of belief.

There was lots of changes in the summer and it takes time to gel. But they work hard and are now starting to blend as a team which is showing on the pitch.

"If you looked at the odds in pre season we were 50/1 to win the Conference. We were rank outsiders and I can understand that. People know about our off field plight it has been well documented.

"In the last seven years we have spent £20,000 and brought in £500,000. I looked at Yeovil who had Gavin Williams and Michael McIndoe in their side and they are players I would have loved to have kept but when a bill comes in we have to sell to pay it."
