A STRONG Bristol City side taught Hereford United a few lessons about finishing with a 5-0 win at Edgar Street on Saturday.

But the five-goal margin rather flattered City who wrapped things up with three strikes in the last eight minutes after the Bulls had had rather the better of the first part of the second period.

In hot steamy conditions, the game got off to a slow start before City took the lead in the 18th minute.

A Mickey Bell corner kick found former Jamaican World Cup star Ian Goodison who powered home a header.

Skipper Ian Wright headed a Paul Parry corner over as Hereford hit back, but, at the other end, only alertness on the goalline by Matt Clarke prevented Goodison from adding a second.

But the second came on the stroke of half time, United old-boy Christian Roberts raced on to Doherty's through ball to slip a shot past Baker.

Baker felled Liam Rosenior in the penalty area on 82 minutes, allowing Leroy Lita to score from the spot.

Two minutes later Craig Woodman and substitute goalkeeper Ken Griffiths produced a Ronaldinho/Seaman moment when the City man's cross sailed into the net.

Then, a minute from time, Lita made it an even happier afternoon for the 161 travelling City fans, driving home the fifth from the edge of the penalty area.
