EDGAR Street is a hive of activity at present but despite umpteen players involved in talks manager Graham Turner still have no new names to add to his squad of eight.

The Hereford United boss was involved with talks with up to nine players on Wednesday during his bid to bolster his squad to 18.

Director Joan Fennessy says it is important to start signing players to build on the optimism sweeping supporters which has been illustrated by brisk season ticket sales.

Turner is currently scouring through the PFA list of released players to bring the right quality of player to the club and is confident of securing the best players available.

"A lot of players have been released by clubs and are on the market," said Fennessy.

"Now that Graham is back from holiday he is very busy striving to put together a competitive squad."

Midfielder Gary Fitzpatrick has chosen to stay with Telford United, despite interest from a number of clubs including Hereford.

United were among the front-runners for the 30-year-old's signature, but he has now decided to stay at Bucks Head.

Boss Jake King said: "Gary has agreed to re-sign for us, which is terrific news.

"He has just had a great season and to think he will be playing for us again next season is a real shot in the arm.

"He is very experienced, very fit and knows all about the Conference.

"There was interest from Hereford United, but Gary very much enjoys playing his football with Telford and is happy here."

Meanwhile tickets are available for a third Ultimate Tribute Show at Edgar Street on Saturday, July 13 from 6pm.

Britney Spears, Abba, Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams and Tina Turner are some of the pseudo stars on show.
