MURDERED Hereford skydiver Stephen Hilder made a mystery visit to an 'off the beaten track' garage and mini market days before his death.
The 20-year-old visited Kirk's Corner, Scunthorpe, for no logical reason, on Tuesday, July 1, three days before he plunged to his death during a parachuting event at nearby Hibaldstow Airfield.
Detective superintendent Colin Andrews, investigating Stephen's death, said: "The reason I am concerned is that I do not know why Stephen would go all that way. Kirk's Corner is a little off the beaten track and certainly not on the direct route from Hibaldstow, in fact to get to that location from Hibaldstow you drive past various other retail outlets."
Stephen travelled there in his white H-registration Vauxhall Belmont. Police say he didn't buy fuel but think he bought basic provisions and possibly some alcohol.
Anyone who met Stephen, or who has any information, is asked to contact the major incident room at Scunthorpe Police Station on 01724 282888.
