RAILWAYS first came to Herefordshire some 150 years ago and to mark the anniversary a unique exhibition of paintings, prints, maps and postcards is being staged at the Wye Valley Brewery Visitor Centre, Stoke Lacy.
The event is arranged by a new Ledbury venture named GHAL Productions run by Cheryl Davies. The business specialises in the production of interesting material past and present in the fields of geography, history, art and literature.
Amongst the exhibits will be a display of Cheryl's artwork as a botanist concentrating on flowers of the rail side. Her partner Gareth Calan Davies, known mostly as a bus driver in the Ledbury, Bromyard and Hereford area, is also a geographer, transport historian and writer. Some of his transport work is also presented.
The exhibition runs from September 24 to September 28. The centre is located on the A465 at Stoke Lacy between Hereford and Bromyard. A small bar is available throughout the exhibition and brewery visits can also be made by arrangement.
