A record day's takings were counted by volunteers at the Charity Shop in Church Street during the Onion Fayre.
Manager Jan Chave said: "It was very busy. We made £565 for the Newent Association for the Disabled, which was £16 up on last year. We had some very tired volunteers. They work such long hours for no pay."
Ten volunteers staffed the shop during the day.
One of their visitors also solved the mystery of the beautiful patchwork quilts which had been donated to the shop in February and restored by volunteers.
One of the quilts was on display when they were approached by a woman who said it had been made by her daughter Heather Speakman, who had since emigrated to Perth in Australia.
She took pictures of it, which she will send across the world to her daughter.
The volunteers did not take the name of Mrs Speakman's mother. But they would be delighted to speak to her again, should she call in at the Charity Shop.
