Mothers Union - Versatile speaker Tony Hobbs enthralled the meeting with his talk and slide show on the Indonesian Confrontation during the 1960's and his experiences whilst working as Assistant Fleet PRO (Borneo) responsible for British Naval publicity in Eastern Malaysia. The meeting concluded with the annual meeting where enrolling member Rosemary Brown, secretary Sheila Rees, and treasurer Margaret Parker were re-elected. Throughout the past year talks and demonstrations to the meetings had been prolific and enthusiastically received. Activities had ranged from mini-market sales, bric a brac stalls, afternoon teas and the re-planting of the garden by the porch at St. Mary's Church by Margaret and her husband Jim Parker in memory of Rita Jones who died in August. It was decided to donate monies raised during the past year to two charities, Overseas Fund and Away From It All.

Parish Coffee Morning - Children in the village are in for a surprise, thanks to sack-busting donations received at the parish councils coffee morning at the Crown Inn last week. Parish council chairman John Gerrish was overwhelmed by the support from the villagers and confirmed that Father Christmas will now be able to visit the Crown Inn with a present for each child from the village on December 18..

Flicks in the Sticks - Tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm in the Cedar Hall, Bend it Like Beckham. A fantastic feel-good comedy, drama movie full of wonderful characters. Set up as an Asian comedy in the East is East mould.

Young Farmers Club - Members are getting in the mood for Christmas with a bingo session this Wednesday, November 26, at 8pm in The Cedar Hall and a disco at Hopelands in Weobley on Friday, November 28, from 8pm.
