FOR the Coronation

My brother Gordon John

Bought Mum - a television!

To watch it all upon!

He bought mum a "fat" T.V.

A 12" screen

We watched while eating up our tea.

The neighbours and our cousins

They all came to call

Spilling from the front room

Halfway down the hall!

We watched the coronation

Of our new young Queen

Dad passed around the butties

Filled with cold roast beef

Mum made pots and pots of tea

Passed around by me!

We all sighed when we saw her

Lillibet in her ermine gown

While the Archbishop of Canterbury

On her head he placed a crown

We all knew we needn't worry

She would never let us down.
