SIXTEEN Sun Valley employees have rowed their way to raising more than £8,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice.

Without an ounce of canoeing experience between them the group took on a challenge from colleagues to row 65 miles down the River Wye in one weekend.

Their adventure began at Hay-on-Wye and finished at Kerne Bridge beyond Ross-on-Wye after two days of paddling and some swimming.

The team members all work at Sun Valley's feed mill in Allensmore and are aged between 25 and 65.

General manager, Stuart Rowney, said: "We are delighted that we have managed to raise in excess of £8,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust. It is a very worthwhile charity that deserves support and we hope that the money will be of great benefit to the charity.

"We are extremely grateful to the friends, family and colleagues who lent us their support through sponsorship."
