WHIST DRIVE - The Almeley Whist Club met in the village hall on Tuesday, January 20, for the first of their new series of games. In the absence of the regular MC Rick Harris, Peter Mokler acted as MC and welcomed the regular players and the many newcomers. Prizes were presented by the organiser Sandra Payne to Mrs D Howell, Mrs M Fenton, Mrs G Preece, Mrs R Rogers, Mr D Beavan, Mrs M Pritchard, Mrs C Hughes and Mrs A Allan. There will be a series of three whist drives on Tuesdays, February 10 and 17, and March 2, when there will be a prize of £20 for the player with the highest cumulative score achieved in these three events. The proceeds from these whist drives will be donated to the Air Ambulance Fund.
