Hereford are through to the last 16 of the Men's Veterans Hockey Cup after a 2-1 home win over Shrewsbury last Sunday.
The home side came under strong pressure in the opening minutes of the game but broke swiftly out of defence with Chris Moody drawing the goalkeeper and squaring the ball for Steve Alderton to open the scoring.
It was a similar story after the break when Moody was once again the instigator as Hereford extended their lead, breaking into the D and releasing Peter Duggan to slide the ball into the back of the empty net.
Shrewsbury rallied strongly towards the end but, although they managed to pull one goal back, were unable to prevent Hereford moving through to a tie at Lincoln on February 22.
