A FAMILY celebration at Hereford's Left Bank Village has given a boost to the Acorns Three Counties Appeal to build a new children's hospice.

The open air event in Kate's Restaurant raised £2,170, with 400 people joining the Mayor of Hereford, Ursula Attfield, to enjoy an evening's entertainment provided by Hereford Cathedral Junior School choir, Hereford Sixth Form College swing band and Wye Valley Chorus, and compered by BBC Hereford and Worcester presenter, Andy Easton.

"We were delighted to be able to host such a worthwhile local children's charity and would like to thank everyone who turned out on what was a bitterly cold evening to make this event such a fundraising success," said Ernie McVay, managing director of Left Bank Village.

Fran Winterbourn, Acorns' Community Fundraising Co-ordinator, added: "We really appreciate all the tremendous help and support given to us by Left Bank. It was a wonderful event with a party-like atmosphere in a fabulous setting."

The Acorns appeal is supported by the Hereford Times.
