WE LIVE on Newtown Crossroads and are against traffic lights.

These are some points why:

1. Vehicles (including a quantity of HGVs) would stop and start constantly creating high levels of noise and emission pollution and vibration to homes. No good night's sleep ever again, as one stop line is directly outside our home;

2. The long traffic queues will prevent access to our home, other residents' homes and all the businesses.

3. Where will the bus stops be? What about the safety of the school children? There aren't any pavements;

4. Would you be happy with street lighting outside your home living in the country?

5. HGVs (including fuel tankers to the garage) from Hereford and turning to Leominster, have to swing into the space which would be occupied by waiting traffic at the lights.

6. To avoid waiting, frustrated motorists may cut through the garage.

7. The businesses on the crossroads would be seriously affected with a reduction in local facilities and employment.

People like to compare Newtown with Trumpet but they are totally different, Newtown has considerably more traffic going through and many more homes and businesses which will be affected.
