Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust is resisting calls to publish a revised route of the waterway through the Ledbury area.
Cliff Penny, editor of the trust's magazine The Wharfinger, said some members had asked for such a map. He said: "The historic route was obstructed by development in Ledbury before comprehensive planning policies were put in place. The new route will follow outside the bypass and its ultimate extension."
But Mr Penny said apart from advance works, if opportunities arise, the trust does not plan any restoration work in the area in the near future. He said: "We've no plans to publish any plans for Ledbury, as we don't wish to raise anyone's hopes that work is imminent."
