CHILDREN at Burley Gate CE Primary School designed and made hats based on their favourite book characters this week. The project was part of the school's book week and the entries were due to be judged in assembly today (Friday).

BLOOD donors are being sought in Bromyard. The National Blood Service will be at the leisure centre, on Cruxwell Street, from 1pm to 3.15pm and 4.30pm to 7.15pm, on Tuesday, March 23.

A LARGE quantity of cash was stolen from the home of an elderly man in Bromyard.

Thieves entered the Old Road house via an insecure side door between 10.30am and 1pm on Tuesday (March 9) and took the money from a cupboard.

A steel disc cutter worth £800 and a £500 cable locator were stolen from a Ford Transit van in a car park at Linton Court, Bromyard, between Friday and Sunday (March 5 and 7).

A JVC CD player was stolen from a car in the Hop Pole car park, Rowberry Street, Bromyard, overnight on Sunday, March 7.

Damage put at £200 was caused to a car in Tenbury Road, Bromyard, on Friday (March 5). Large stones were thrown through the rear windscreen and the driver's side front window, although nothing was stolen.

A VACANT but furnished house in Bromyard was broken into last week. The back door of the property in Milvern Close was forced between Wednesday and Thursday, March 3 and 4. The house was searched, although police are not yet sure if anything was taken.

A handbag containing £70, a gold fob watch and keys was stolen from a car in Burley Gate while the owner visited the village hall between 1.15pm and 3pm on Tuesday, March 2.
