COSELEY 1,
Ledbury TOWN 2
HIGH winds made difficult playing conditions on Saturday when Ledbury Town visited basement-club Coseley in the West Midland Premier Division.
Coseley had the wind in their favour in the first half and were able to contain Ledbury although the best opportunity of the half fell to Ledbury's Gareth Davies, who hit the bar with a fine shot.
Just as Ledbury were preparing to go in at half time with a level scoreline a fortunate rebound allowed Coseley's Chris Hunter to head home from close range.
The second half was a reversal of the first with Ledbury now firmly in control and they equalised within five minutes of the start when Steve Olcheck firmly headed in an accurate corner from Stuart Smith.
Ledbury increased the pressure and created more chances with shots from Hall, Smith and Davies all unsuccessful.
Finally good work by Davies set up new signing Alex Volosonov, who scored his first goal for Ledbury when he beat the keeper from 10 yards out.
Considering the conditions this was a good three points for Ledbury and more good news was that their leading scorer Robbie Colwell returned from injury and played the final ten minutes, firing just high with a fierce shot.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury Town were due to entertain Newport, but their visitors pulled out of the league last week. Ledbury do have a midweek league match, however, and entertain Wednesfield on Wednesday (7.45) at New Street.
- On Wednesday night Ledbury Town defeated visiting Wolverhampton United 5-0 at New Street.
