THE Ladies' Open race at the Golden Valley Hunt point to point meeting at Bredwardine saw another triumph for Upton Adventure as the Eastnor-trained mare recorded her eighth win of the year in convincing style.

Ridden by usual partner Emma James for owner Peter Corbett and trainer Nicky Sheppard, Upton Adventure was always in the first half-dozen of the 13-runner field. And once they went for home approaching the third-last fence, the chasing duo of Stretching and Lucky Master were always struggling.

Owner Peter Corbett was understandably delighted with the victory for his home-bred mare who is the most prolific winner in the country this season.

He said: "The jockey is really riding her spot-on and we are so pleased."

Trainer Nicky Sheppard added: "It is a wonderful success story for everybody concerned - for Peter the owner, a flag- bearer for us as a training yard, and for Emma."

The Welsh Border Area Championship Confined race fell, as expected, to the odds-on favourite Father Tom, partnered by Julian Pritchard, who was content to track the 12-runner field for most of the trip until closing over the final circuit and leading at the second-last fence.

This completed a double for Pritchard and trainer Dick Baimbridge as they had earlier teamed up with Teme Willow to win the Men's Open.

The opening Members' race saw a debut success for Patrick Crozier aboard his mother Jo Crozier's Highbridge, who kept on determinedly to score by a length from Running on Red.

This maintained the family tradition of success at the Golden Valley meeting as Patrick is the grandson of Vivian Bishop, the former master of the Golden Valley Hunt who was renowned for success in the point to point and National Hunt world.

Trainer Steve Flook has been taking the plaudits this season with his many successes and he added another when Terimons Dream took the second division of the younger horse Maiden race by staying on too strongly for the favourite, Willoughby's Flyer.
