Leominster Ladies enjoyed a competitive and sociable Invitation Day with Jane Powles and her guest Liz Moore carrying off the top prize with 41 stableford points.

Jan Bowen, Rosie Cole, Joan Curtis and Sheila Glinos came second with 71, with Ann Macey, Brenda Clinton, Jane Brinsford and Wendy Hesser a further point adrift in third place.

Ross-on-Wye's Di Honey made sure of the nearest the pin prize at the third by holing her tee-shot for an ace, with Hereford's Jean Turner claiming the prize at the 12th.

n Mother and son Janet and Gareth Williams gave themselves a chance of progressing to the grand final of the Berringer Vineyards Foursomes Stableford in California when they posted 39 points to win the club qualifier at Kington and a place in the regional final.

They finished two points clear of Joan Morgan and Mel Hughes, who beat Jill and Glyn Wictome on a card countback.

The Mail on Sunday team bowed out of this year's national knockout competition when they went down 4-0 at Worcester Golf and Country Club in the fourth round.
