CANON Frome travelled to South Wales and having won the toss asked Glangrwyney to bat first on a wicket with little bounce.

GLANGRWYNEY I v CANON FROME I

Two early strikes came through Andy Rogers and Chris Styles but some poor bowling saw the home side reach 72 before the third wicket fell in the 18th over thanks to a well judged catch by Andy Lloyd.

Neil Andrews joined the attack and managed to put the brakes on the scoring. The introduction of Chris Frost to the bowling saw him take the fourth wicket but he proved expensive, going for 27 from three overs. Calvin Cottrell and Charlie Barnett then bowled in tandem both picking up a wicket and Rogers finished off the innings taking the last four wickets to end up with 6-43 as Glangrwyney totalled 174 all out.

Frome began their reply with Chris Styles and Dan Watkins, putting on 41 for the first wicket before Watkins fell for 11. The middle order failed to build on their solid start as 59-1 became 89-5 with Rogers (7), Frost (8), Andrews (1) and Duddell (7) all back in the pavilion.

Styles and Andrew Lloyd saw Frome through to 97 by the start of the 32nd over. Styles fell to the first ball of the over having made 47 and when Matt Richards his second ball for four, Frome passed three figures. However Richards, Cottrell and George Whittaker fell to the fourth, fifth and sixth balls of the over to complete Frome's collapse. Only Lloyd ad Barnett remained and when the latter was bowled for four, the visitors had been bowled out for 111, losing by 63 runs.

Frome were left to rue some poor early bowling and missed chances, picking up only six points in defeat.
