WHEN my wife tripped and fell on the uneven pavement in Widemarsh Street on May 12, and it was clear she had injured her arm, a young man stopped immediately, then phoned for an ambulance and refused to leave until it arrived and he saw she was in professional care.

As he had to verify our exact location, I feel he was not a local resident but I want to thank him again most sincerely for displaying such outstandingly good citizenship and to say how refreshing it is to report a good young samaritan in an age when a bad press appears the norm for so many youths.

Not only did he do a good service for my wife and me but for his new generation also upon whom the future of our society will increasingly depend.
