EASTER eggs weren't the only thing in Fran Winterbourn's shopping bag when she visited Marks & Spencer.
Last year, the Hereford store adopted Acorns Hospice as their charity for 12 months and Mary Perris, Sally Roach and Paula Rawbone of the charity committee were delighted to hand over a total of £11,565.32 to Mrs Winterbourn, fundraising co-ordinator for Acorns Hospice.
Staff at the store used every trick in the book to raise half the impressive total - table stalls, car boot sales, till collections and a bingo evening among them - which was matched by the company.
Acorns was also the beneficiary as high fashion came to Herefordshire, when a sell-out fashion show was staged in Berries Coffee Shop at Oakchurch Farm, the first event in their year of fundraising for the children's hospice.
An enthusiastic audience of 200 was treated to an evening of style and spectacle on the catwalk, with amateur models raising a very fashionable £3,000. All the outfits were provided by Janet Elizabeth of Church Street, whose owner, Jan Rumsey, masterminded the show.
A video of the show will be available, in aid Acorns. Call Ros Price at Oakchurch Farm on 01981 500125.
