Studley 4 Westfields 2
WESTFIELDS dismal Midland Football Alliance form continued as they crashed to defeat against lowly Studley, making it just two wins from their last 10 league outings.
Westfields failed to master the heavy conditions and were generally second to the ball. So, instead of completing a possible league double, they eased their gritty opponents' relegation worries with a generally inept performance.
The Hereford visitors twice failed to clear a right-wing cross in the 12th minute and Andy Grubb took advantage to beat Jon Pugh with a crisp drive.
Paul Burton levelled for the visitors in the 25th minute when he controlled a long clearance from Pugh before beating the advancing home goalkeeper with a good finish.
But Westfields again conceded the lead before the break when a static defence allowed Scott Walsh to hit the target.
Westfields put together a flowing move 10 minutes after the restart and got back on terms when Derek Craddock swept in a right-wing cross from Matt Aubrey.
Although enjoying plenty of possession in a flowing game, Westfields contributed to their own downfall with a couple of elementary defensive errors.
They gifted Kevin Jones a third Studley goal when they failed to cut out a cross, and then conceded victory when Keiron Cross rose unchallenged at the far post to head home the final goal.
