BISHOP of Hereford's Bluecoat School pupil Oliver Skyrme has been selected to go forward for trials for the England under-16 rugby side.
Skyrme attended the Midlands trial with school-mate Liam Herbert and has now been picked to attend the England 16-Group trials at Castlecroft in Wolverhampton on Saturday and Sunday.
Lock-forward Skyrme is one of 78 players invited to attend. After a series of matches on Sunday, the selectors will trim the squad to 75 to attend a training week at Hartpury College from February 9-13.
A SPATE of injuries which deprived Bishop's of five regulars proved too big a handicap as they lost 12-0 at home to Wellingborough School Hereford in the last 16 of the Daily Mail Under-15 Cup.
Bishop's quickly found themselves under pressure from the powerful home forwards and were unable to make use of a strong wind in their favour in the first period.
After the turnaround, Wellingbor-ough used the conditions to pen the visitors back in their half and scored two tries, one of which was converted, to move into the competition's quarter-finals.
HEREFORD Cathedral School booked a place in the final of Luctonians' Anglo-Welsh Floodlit Cup with a 7-0 win over Christ's College, Brecon.
Their score came late in the game from Charlie Hurt and Luke Cross converted.
Cathedral will meet either Monmouth or Bishop's in the final.
