A two-day show for smallholders and gardeners that made its debut in 2002 and attracted more than 20,000 visitors from across the UK last year is on course to break all records in 2005.

The show is run by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society in association with Smallholder magazine, part of the Newsquest Media Group, which also publishes the Hereford Times.

The show utilises the extensive facilities of the RWAS showground at Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, and takes place this year on May 21 and 22.

It is a source of comprehensive information on choosing varieties of plants, bulbs, shrubs, roses and trees and includes a wide range of trade stands.

These offer garden plants and all kinds of equipment from greenhouses to wellington boots.

There are also information stands and display gardens and a professional competitive section will be staged in the Floral Hall for which the RWAS is putting up attractive cash prizes.

Last year prize money for the professional section totalled £6,850.

Entries for the professional section close on Sunday, January 30, and further particulars relating to this and other sections may be obtained from the RWAS offices on 01982 554409.
