BURNS NIGHT DINNER - will be held in Almeley Village Hall on Saturday, from 7.30 for 8pm. CHILDREN'S SOCIETY - The Christingle Service at St Mary's Church, will be part of the Family Service on Sunday. The collection will be in aid of the Children's Society. On Saturday, February 5, Jeremy and Elizabeth Russell will be hosting a coffee morning at Batch Cottage, from 10.30am until noon. Holders of the society boxes are asked to bring them to the coffee morning or return them to Mr Jeff Gly-Jones at Newhouse Farm. All proceeds will be for the Children's Society.

WHIST DRIVE - The first 2005 meeting of the Almeley Whist Club took place in the village hall on Tuesday, January 11. Despite poor weather conditions there was a good turn out of players. MC Mr Rick Harris presented prizes to Mrs Janet Cadman, Mrs Mary Lloyd, Mrs Kath Jenkins, Mrs Sherry Gore, Mr Bryn Thomas, Mr Hughes, Mrs Sandra Payne and Mr Peter Hall. A series of three whist drives in aid of the Air Ambulance will commence next Tuesday at 7.45pm. Profits from last Tuesday's whist drive will be donated to the Tsunami Disaster Fund.
