PROMOTION-chasing Hereford 2nd gained revenge for their only defeat of the season to date in the Gerrard West of England and South Wales League North-East West District 1 with a 4-2 success against county rivals Leomin-ster 2nd.

Hereford opened the scoring in the early stages with a Pete Duggan strike but Leominster hit back to level through Josh Watkins.

Hereford's Simon Horan and Richard Jones began to dominate the midfield but the home side failed to convert any of a run of penalty corners to leave the game level at the interval.

Richard Jones fired Hereford in front at the start of the second period and, after Peter Edwards had gone close, Tim Miller added a third from Richard Wood's cross.

Ian Johnson pulled a goal back for Leominster with 10 minutes to go but another solid strike from Duggan calmed Hereford's nerves and sealed the victory.

Ross left it late before grabbing the points with a 1-0 win over Cheltenham 5th in North-East West District 4.

The South Herefordshire side pressed strongly, hitting the woodwork twice and seeing another effort cleared off the line before Sam Warner finally struck with just seconds remaining.
