LEOMINSTER'S Lion Gallery changes hands at the end of January.

As the lively banter between its dedicated staff - paid and voluntary - dies, smiles fade at talk of the "end of an era".

The non-profit making operation has survived through a variety of arts funding during its decade on Broad Street, and manager Rozie Keogh is keen to thank everyone who has supported the venture.

"Shopping is an entertainment these days and I like to think we've been entertainers!" she said.

New owners Andrea and Phil Jackson, of Westhope, will be keeping both the name and signs.

With 20 years experience in the craft industry, the couple hopes to be able to make the business work.

"The gallery has established a good reputation for itself and we want to continue to support local artists and makers," she said.

"We will continue to specialise in goods made in the British Isles".

The gallery won't be re-opening straight away and the new owners are happy to speak to local makers, who can contact them on 01432 830466.
