Pegasus Juniors 1 Witney United 1

A SOLID performance earned Pegasus a gritty point in the GLS Hellenic League Premier Division.

Witney made an impressive start and Daniel Sobocinski was forced to head off the line with just two minutes played.

A fine save by Scott Hodgetts prevented Andy Grainge's header from finding the net after 12 minutes and, three minutes later, the goalkeeper was at the heart of the action once again, diving to pull off a brilliant stop from Matt Bown's penalty.

Pegasus drew inspiration from this and, after 19 minutes, Ben Price won the ball in midfield and passed to Fergal Harrison who slipped a pass through to Chris Mortlock whose crisp drive beat the advancing Sean Purcell.

Jamie Cuss had a goal ruled out for offside shortly afterwards and, with Pegasus dominating, Gavin Stone forced a fine save from Purcell as half-time approached.

Witney levelled at the start of the second period when Lee Keyes headed in a Martin Thompson cross.

Price caused consternation when his cross-shot flashed across the face of the goal but, as time ran out, it took a couple of timely interceptions by Paul Brown to prevent Keys and Kevin Coles from snatching a winner.
