Hinton 2 Wellington 3 aet

HOLDERS Hinton bowed out of the Presteigne Otway Cup to their county rivals at the quarter-final stage.

Mike Marsden, Jody Dawe and Ross Semple all had chances to open the scoring for Hinton but it was Wellington who came closest to a breakthrough in the early stages when home goalkeeper Kyle Waring did well to tip an Andrew Morgan header on to the bar.

Shortly afterwards, the visitors took the lead when Andy Clarke was put through and picked his spot to fire past Waring.

Wellington went on to dominate the remainder of the first period but a couple of Hinton substitutions after the break sparked a revival and John Williams pulled the ball back from the bye-line for Dawe to level.

Hinton then began to take charge and Dawe, twice, and Simon Gwynne both had opportunities to settle the issue in normal time.

Even in the added period, the cup holders looked the more likely scorers but, six minutes from the end, Robbie Parsons got away on the right and played the ball in for Mark Cross to blast home from 15 yards.

Four minutes later Parsons seized on a Clarke pass to extend the lead.

Hinton pulled a goal back through Jason Prosser, while Anthony Robbins fired against a post just before the final whistle as the home side went in search of an equaliser.
