Sutton United 6

Ewyas Harold 1

SUTTON found their form with a vengeance to move through to the HFA County Challenge Cup semi-finals.

After some even early exchanges, Sutton went on to dominate the match, taking their chances expertly to gain a well-merited victory.

The home side took the lead on the half-hour when Tim Powell's cross set up Stuart New who turned his marker to fire a low shot into the corner of the net.

Shortly afterwards, centre-back Steve Miles extended the lead with a shot which deflected into the net off Harold's Rob Chandler.

To have any chance of victory, the visitors needed to pull a goal back quickly at the start of the second period but instead fell further behind when a cross-shot from Richard Allman flew into the net.

New then added his second and two well-taken goals from Tim Powell took the game well beyond Harold who pulled a goal back in the closing stages when Craig Phillips scored from the penalty spot after Chandler had been brought down.

Sutton will now face Westfields or Kington Town in the semi-finals.
