Hereford United embark on their annual FA Cup adventure on Saturday with a trip to Harrow Borough in the competition's fourth qualifying round, writes Richard Prime.

United have never before met the Ryman League Premier Division outfit who are currently struggling in 23rd position after a 3-1 away defeat last night against Northwood.

While the Bulls are themselves noted giantkillers, this time they must be sure that the boot is not on the other foot against a side which last reached this stage of the competition three years ago. That season they went out 3-0 in the first round proper to eventual semi-finalists Wycombe Wanderers.

"It's a real David and Goliath job," said Harrow manager Edwin Stein. "I do think Hereford have a lot to live up to and you never know. Every now and then you get an upset and I wouldn't necessarily think that we haven't got any chance at all.

"It's great for Harrow Borough as Hereford come with a fine tradition and Graham Turner is an excellent manager whom I know from old, during my time at Birmingham City.

"He is a hugely respected character in the game."

Harrow's task will be made no easier, however, by the absence of Malian international goalkeeper Keita Karamoko, suspended after being sent off in the last round against Newport, Isle of Wight.

Hereford also have a key player missing with on-loan Tamika Mkandawire refused permission by his club, West Bromwich Albion, to become cup-tied. Richard Teesdale is likely to deputise. Ben Smith also faces a test on an injured foot.
