HEREFORD United continue their busy pre-season build-up with three games in eight days, starting with tonight's visit to officially open Ludlow Town's splendid new Coors Stadium, kick-off 7.30pm.

They visit Bromyard Town on Saturday, kick-off 3pm, and next Thursday they entertain Birmingham City at Edgar Street, kick-off 7.45pm.

Bulls manager Graham Turner has been pleased with the performance of the squad in the games to date and said: "Keeping everything in perspective, it has been a very encouraging pre-season programme.

"The general fitness of the players has been good and the levels of performance excellent."

He will be taking a full squad to Ludlow with Ben Smith (ankle) and Steve Guinan (knee) quietly getting back to match fitness and both are expected to play a part in the game.

Trialist Gethin Jones has returned to Cardiff City, but Turner will continue to assess forward Danny Bertram, midfielder Dean Craven and experienced defender Peter Wilding, along with local lads Kevin Gwillam and Danny Moon, and possibly a couple of others.

Meanwhile, Turner is looking for a bumper turnout for the annual Open Day on Sunday when fans will have a chance to meet the players and have a good look around Edgar Street.

He said: "This day has got bigger each year and the players enjoy the opportunity to meet the supporters.

"It will be a real fun day for all the family with lots of stalls and activities for everyone to enjoy."

The Open Day runs from 11am to 4pm. Anyone who would like to donate stall items can take their offerings to the main office in Blackfriars Street from 9am.

Another development will be the Childcare Programme operated by the club's Football in the Community scheme, which will include training on the Edgar Street pitch.

This will operate from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, for four weeks starting next Monday, July 28. Further details are available from the United office on 01432 276666.
