Stafford Town 0 Westfields 3

PAUL Burton bagged a fine hat-trick as Westfields completed a Midland Alliance double over struggling bottom club Stafford.

Having beaten their hosts 4-0 at their temporary Stourport headquarters earlier in the season, Westfields were keen to maintain their mid-table position and opened strongly.

After Scott Jackson's early bullet header from a Roy Jordan cross had flashed over the bar, skipper Jordan combined with Chris Jefferson to set up the opening goal.

The duo opened up the home defence and Burton took full advantage to rifle home from 12 yards.

Burton almost notched a second goal when put clear by Anthony Rivett but his shot whistled wide. He atoned, however, for the miss just before the break when he collected a long goal-kick from Jon Pugh in his stride to hit the target with a clinical finish.

Westfields continued to dominate the game after the break and Burton duly completed a fine hat-trick when he beat a couple of defenders before hitting the net with a crisp finish.

Any attempts by Stafford to try to get back were snuffed out by a well-organised Westfields back line, with Jon Hill outstanding.

With the game well and truly won, Jackson almost made it four when another powerful header rebounded off the bar.
