Coalville Town 3 Westfields 2 (aet)

WESTFIELDS gifted Coalville a place in the first round proper of the FA Vase when they failed to take advantage of their depleted Leicestershire hosts who had two players sent off before extra time was needed.

Coalville then clinched victory with a penalty.

Paul Burton should have given Westfields a first-minute lead but delayed his shot after Coalville failed to clear a through ball, and two minutes later home striker Richard Saunders beat Jon Pugh with a superb drive.

Burton made amends when he equalised with a volley in the 10th minute, but Coalville regained the lead when Pugh failed to hold a hot shot and Dave Tongue smashed in the rebound.

Soon after the interval Mark Hibbard put Westfields back on terms with a penalty after Burton was brought down in the box and a defender was dismissed.

Minutes later Coalville were down to nine players when another defender was red-carded for a rash tackle on Dean Clarke.

Westfields failed to finish several promising moves as a defiant Coalville took the tie into extra-time and grabbed victory when Scott Jackson was adjudged to have pushed Saunders and Tongue dispatched the penalty.

Westfields 1 Cradley 1

The Hereford outfit opened well, with Roy Jordan having an early header well saved, but Cradley responded and took a sixth-minute lead through Seb Hamilton, who raced through the home defence and rounded Jon Pugh to score.

Westfields fought back strongly and Derek Craddock went close with a header before Pugh pulled off a superb point-blank save to thwart Chris Jones.

Paul Burton then had a close-range header saved before Westfields finally drew level in the 39th minute, Craddock heading in a Wayne Hoskins right-wing corner.

Westfields almost took the lead soon after the interval when Mark Hibbard had a header brilliantly saved but Pugh needed to be at his best to to ensure Westfields salvaged a draw.
