Hereford United Director of Football Graham Turner is confident his side will be back to their best tomorrow despite an enforced two-week break.

The Bulls hope to stay in Nationwide Conference title contention when they entertain Boston United (3pm).

A blank weekend owing to their early FA Cup exit could well dent third-placed Bulls' rhythm as they bid to keep the pressure on leading pair Yeovil Town and Rushden and Diamonds.

Turner said: "It is always worrying when things are going well, you don't really want a break, and we have won our last three matches in the league.

"But we have done all right in training so it doesn't appear to have done us any harm at all.

"We have won three in a row and scored 11 goals in the process, and I would hope we can continue in that vein."

Hereford, however, look as though they will be without central defender Tony James, who picked up a hamstring injury in training. Matt Gardiner and James Wall are vying to take his place.

Matt Clarke is also in contention for a return at left-back after serving a one-match suspension, but he will have to displace the fit-again Paul Sturgess, who shone on his return in the 3-1 win over Forest Green.

United have no other injury worries from the side that turned out against Forest Green.

But Turner says newly-promoted Boston will prove tough opponents, and there is the extra spice of the return of striker Paul Fewings, who joined the Lincolnshire side in the summer after two seasons at Edgar Street.

Turner added: "It will be tricky. They have a very strong side with a lot of experienced players, and they paid £25,000 for Ken Charlery who is a proven goalscorer at league level.

"Things like that indicate that we are in for a hard game."

Veteran striker Jimmy Quinn, who played three games for the Bulls last month, is believed to be a target for struggling Hayes.

Hereford have arranged their LDV Vans Trophy first round tie at home to Yeovil for Tuesday, December 5 (7.45).
