HEREFORD United will be striving to maintain their promising form when they entertain two of the Nationwide Conference title favourites in the space of four days, writes IAN MORGAN.

First, unbeaten Chester City, managed by former Liverpool and England star Mark Wright, will visit Edgar Street on Saturday, boasting three wins from three away matches.

In fact, the Blues have yet to concede a goal on their travels and have a very impressive and experienced squad, including former Liverpool defender Steve Harkness and ex-Scarborough and England semi-pro international striker Steve Brodie.

Then, on Tuesday night, former United striker Gavin Williams will make an eagerly-awaited return with West Country outfit Yeovil Town.

The high-flying Glovers are another club hotly-tipped to finish in at least a play-off place but they will be without another former Bulls player, Michael McIndoe, who is suspended.

Sixth-placed United have won their last two matches, including Monday's hard-fought 2-1 win at Woking in a Sky-televised clash and boss Graham Turner says the matches cannot come quickly enough.

He said: "Considering the conditions, we played very well in patches against Woking, once we managed to settle down. It was a good performance and it sets up Saturday's match nicely and, hopefully, we will get a good crowd.

"We know that the next two matches will be difficult and they will provide a yard-stick to measure our progress against."
