Hereford United's biggest home win for more than a year may have guided them through to the fourth round of the FA Trophy -- but it did little to swell the club's bank balance.

Just 710 supporters watched the Bulls brush aside Accrington Stanley 4-0 in their third round replay at Edgar Street, leaving the club struggling to make a profit from the tie.

Half of the gate money will be heading back north to the Lancashire club -- and that is after expenses have been paid.

Hereford first team coach John Trewick said it was disappointing that so few turned up for the game, but said it was understandable given the Bulls' packed fixture list.

"We have a couple of big games coming up and supporters are aware of that," he explained.

"We have the game with Dagenham & Redbridge today and then the LDV Vans semi-final against Wrexham on Tuesday.

"It can be expensive following football these days if you are not careful.

"I thought we may get between 1,000 and 1,200, but those who stayed away certainly missed a cracking game and one or two will be having a few regrets," said Trewick.

Hereford's win lines up a fourth round tie with Hyde United who put out their Unibond Premier Division rivals Whitby Town in Wednesday's replay.

The game, at Edgar Street, will be on Saturday, February 5, and the Bulls go into the game as hot favourites against a club two divisions below them in the pyramid.
