ALLAN Lloyd, the newly invested President of the City of Hereford Probus Club, has nominated the Acorns Children's Hospice at Worcester as his President's Charity.
Previously the Probus Club had donated upwards of £800 towards the capital target of £4 million and will now be helping towards the running costs of the hospice which stand at a staggering £4,000 per day or £1.4 million a year.
The City of Hereford Probus Club, the first to be formed in the city, still holds its Thursday morning meetings at the Farmers' Club, Widemarsh Street, where it held its inaugural meeting in 1969. Allan Lloyd is the first president to be elected from Kington.
Allan taught at Lady Hawkins' School, Kington, for 40 years. He and his wife Angela have five grown up children and 12 grand-children.
