Wolverhampton United 0 Hinton 1
HINTON halted their recent poor West Midland League Division 1 run with a welcome win over bottom club Wolverhampton United, their first victory in their last six league starts.
Missing six first-team regulars, the visitors took time to settle and were pinned in their own half as Wolves applied early pressure.
Having weathered the storm, Hinton started to play some good football with Jody Dawe a constant threat and particularly dangerous on the break. Twice in quick succession he broke through, his first shot flashing inches wide and the home goalkeeper doing well to block his second attempt. At the other end Hinton's Kyle Waring did well to tip a blistering 25-yard drive over the bar.
Hinton opened strongly after the break with Dawe grabbing the decisive goal in the 49th minute when he collected a defence splitting pass from Darren Birch to race clear and slip the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.
Although Wolves tried to get back into the game, the Hinton defence, with centre-backs Birch and Mike Marsden outstanding, coped well with everything that came their way and guided their team to a deserved victory.
