Bromyard & District Garden Club held their 52nd Annual Spring Show on Saturday, April 9, at the Bromyard Centre.
Despite the early Spring which meant that many kinds of daffodil had finished flowering, there was still a good showing in most of the classes.
There were 162 adult entries from 18 entrants and 9 children's entries from 3 children.
The main prize
winners were :-
Bill Firkins Memorial Trophy for Specimen Flowers - Gill Churchill
The Pearson Cup for the best exhibit in Specimen Blooms - Kenneth Broom
The Coombs Vase for Flower Arrangements - John Davies
Gladys Smith Trophy for Domestic Classes - Judith Evans
Broom Vase for Miniature Daffodils - Kenneth Broom
Sherford House Cup for best exhibit in Classes 14-24 - David Rex
Ken Batchelor Memorial Trophy for Children - Joint winners - Sophie Lee & Ffion Reed.
There will be an Extra Ordinary General Meeting of the Club on Wednesday, April 20, at 7.45pm. at the Bromyard Centre. This is to discuss the future, if any, of the Club as the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer are due to resign at the AGM in November and as yet there is no one prepared to replace them. Unfortunately, without administering officers, the Club will grind to a halt. The Club is in desperate need of new, younger (under 60) members to carry the Club into the future.
